The Role

We are looking for an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join our Data & Technology team. You’ll work on exciting client projects across a range of industries, building modern, scalable data solutions on AWS. You’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and architectures that empower our clients to make data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines using AWS cloud services.
  • Build data integration solutions using tools such as AWS Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, and more.
  • Work with structured and unstructured data, ensuring high data quality and governance.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, architects, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into robust technical solutions.
  • Optimise data pipelines for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Implement best practices in data engineering, security, and DevOps (e.g., CI/CD, infrastructure as code).
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our data engineering standards and methodologies.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a strong focus on AWS cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in AWS services such as S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Athena, EMR, and DynamoDB.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform or CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and containerisation tools (e.g., Docker).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, agile project environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with modern data platforms like Databricks or Snowflake.
  • Exposure to real-time data processing (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka).
  • Experience working in a consultancy or client-facing role.
