Overview

G.Digital are partnered with a growing consultancy specialising in the public sector. They work on mission-critical projects across cyber, telecoms and data, helping government teams use data to protect the UK.

They’re looking for a Data Engineer who has experience as a consultant and can design & deliver modern data pipelines, bring best-practice engineering to complex environments, and collaborate directly with public-sector clients. This will be a client facing role.

What you’ll bring

  • 3+ years’ professional experience in data engineering
  • Hands-on with modern data tools (e.g. Spark, Kafka, Python, Airflow, SQL)
  • Strong ETL/ELT skills: data extraction, transformation, and loading at scale
  • Cloud experience (AWS, Azure or GCP) and CI/CD tooling
  • Data modelling and warehouse design for analytics & ML use cases
  • Knowledge of relational & non-relational databases (Postgres, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, Graph DBs)
  • Experience being a consultant/client facing role.
  • Eligible for SC security clearance (UK resident for 5+ years, British Citizen)

How you’ll work

  • Collaborate with public-sector clients to shape requirements and deliver robust solutions
  • Build secure, scalable pipelines for structured & unstructured data
  • Integrate data-quality checks, logging, monitoring and alerting into workflows
  • Contribute to architecture, testing strategies and risk mitigation
  • Bring a continuous-improvement mindset - code quality, versioning and automation
  • Hybrid working model, 2x per week onsite in Cheltenham, with client visit requirements.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing and implementing cloud, on-prem, and hybrid data platforms
  • Harvesting, ingesting and transforming diverse data sets for analytics, BI and machine learning
  • Migrating and consolidating data to modern platforms
  • Advising on best practices in data ethics, governance and legislation
  • Supporting pitches, presentations and strategy as the consultancy scales
