This pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead the development of Civil Asset Inspections, driving performance, reducing costs, and boosting employee engagement. Youll bring technical expertise and a proactive mindset to shape our civil asset strategy, managing preventative maintenance, prioritising defects, and responding to critical incidents like bridge strikes and tunnel events. Youll work closely with consultants and delivery managers to ensure safe, compliant and reliable engineering across airside, landside and terminal operations. Role focus includes leading the civil asset inspection programme, developing safe inspection methodologies and job plans, and overseeing defect management and remediation within the Preventative Maintenance programme.

Your role will involve

• Deliver a comprehensive civil inspection programme aligned with Engineering Standards, including scheduling Principal Inspections and coordinating delivery with the Civils Framework Consultant.
• Lead and manage the creation of safe, compliant inspection methodologies and job plans, ensuring effective traffic and pedestrian management across operational areas.
• Conduct and oversee a range of civil asset inspections and assessments such as General, Building, Road Visual, and street lighting column inspections ensuring outputs meet required standards.
• Prepare and review inspection and assessment reports, ensuring quality and safety compliance; manage defect rectification through immediate action or integration into the PM programme.
• Support the development of the civil asset strategy by undertaking surveys, managing a dynamic defect work bank, and ensuring accurate documentation and metadata storage for easy retrieval.
• Act as first-line technical support during civil asset incidents and represent the Client on-site for asset sign-off, snagging, and acceptance, collaborating with Business Units and Maintenance Integration teams.

Essential skills and qualifications

• Engineering Degree (MEng, BEng) or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering. Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership.
• Enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills and work in a team environment.
• Ability to work under own initiative to achieve targets and meet deadlines.
• Post qualification experience within civil or structural engineering capacity; experience undertaking and managing civil/structural inspections or asset management.
• Full UK Driving License.
