Overview

In this dynamic role, no two days will be the same. The Design Engineer specializing in Electrical Offshore, under the guidance of Principal Engineers, designs, develops, and optimizes electrical systems for offshore platforms (AC/DC), ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. You will engage with clients to understand requirements and provide updates on project progress, delivering solutions that meet customer specifications and industry standards. A continual improvement focus will be established to achieve this by taking a broad approach towards electrical system design and optimization across projects and tenders. You will offer experienced advice to collaborators, make critical adjustments to achieve project objectives, and lead changes identified through assessments and technical reviews. Your proactive problem-solving skills and technical expertise will drive the success of offshore platform projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop electrical design solutions for offshore platforms, including power distribution, lighting, emergency, and communication systems.
  • Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and schematics for electrical installations, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Coordinate projects from initial assessment to completion, including tenders/FEED and EPCI scope.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely achievement of project goals and adherence to quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to sub-contractors throughout the design process.
  • Review and approve user documentation, including reports, calculations, and drawings.
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural, others) to achieve integrated and efficient designs.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure alignment with project requirements and expectations.
  • Ensure all electrical designs meet regulatory requirements and standard methodologies.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and standard methodologies in electrical services and offshore engineering.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of design methodologies and tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or HNC/HND.
  • A couple of years of experience in electrical design engineering, specifically within the Low voltage/Auxiliaries, onshore or offshore (any) industries.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, BS).
  • Proficiency in design software and engineering tools (AutoCAD, MS Office, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
