What you will be doing:

  • Design and Development: Design, develop, prototype, and test innovative technical solutions that meet performance, functional, and aesthetic requirements.
  • Integration of Solutions: Support the integration of technical solutions within a manufacturable end-product vision.
  • Specification and Testing: Define technical specification requirements, create test methods, and perform investigative verification and validation tests throughout all development phases.
  • Team Collaboration: Work within cross-functional teams to deliver products on specification, time, and cost, collaborating with external agencies as needed to integrate electro/mechanical systems into product solutions.
  • Problem Solving: Resolve engineering challenges thoroughly, balancing technical rigor with project delivery timelines.
  • Supplier Interactions: Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships to influence technology and product roadmaps, including greater ownership of procurement processes.
  • Risk and Reporting: Assess technical risks, define development plans, and report progress against project delivery milestones.
  • Task Management: Organise and communicate task timelines, adapt schedules to dynamic priorities, and ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables while communicating trade-offs where necessary.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Use advanced statistical tools, structural analysis, and measurement techniques to clearly present data, ensuring stakeholders can quickly understand and advise on next steps.

What we need from you:

  • A degree in Design Engineering, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Excellent proficiency in 3D CAD software and design tools, including experience designing parts and assemblies for mass manufacture.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, including mechanisms, materials selection, and manufacturing processes, tool design and assembly methods.
  • Practical experience with engineering tools like FMEAs, tolerance stack analysis, structural analysis, and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • A creative problem-solver with the ability to multitask and adapt to rapidly changing project scope.
  • Proven ability to manage technical risks, define and meet deadlines, and communicate effectively across teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a logical and analytical mindset.
  • Proficiency in creating and communicating design ideas through concept sketches, 3D models, prototypes, and technical drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with verification and validation processes, ensuring all designs meet stringent quality standards.
