The Design Transfer Project Engineer coordinates resources across teams for successful design transfer to the Global Supply Chain. They manage and execute change order implementation, supporting cross-functional teams in addressing complex issues to ensure thorough risk mitigation and resolution for a successful design transfer.
This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Managers and is part of the Hardware Manufacturing Engineering Team located in Shrewsbury, MA and will be on-site position.
What you will do:
- Assist and lead activities related to evaluation of engineering and manufacturing change requests, contributing to risk assessments and implementation planning as part of Change Control Board process.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather inputs and support documentation, materials planning, validation, and training needs for Change Requests (CRs).
- Lead and support design transfer and implementation activities, including engineering design releases, material planning, supplier and sourcing coordination, and updates to documentation such as work instructions and MES systems, to ensure smooth transition into manufacturing.
- Apply foundational project management skills to track timelines, manage deliverables, and drive effective cross-functional communication to ensure on-time execution of engineering and supply chain initiatives.
- Contribute to and help lead process improvement efforts within the Global Supply Chain by identifying inefficiencies and supporting DBS-driven solutions.
Who you are:
- A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or an Associate’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity in change control processes, with working knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM), material planning (MRP), and product lifecycle management to support effective implementation and cross-functional coordination.
- Actively developing and applying project management skills—including task tracking, stakeholder communication, and risk management—to support the successful execution of engineering and supply chain projects.
- Strong communicator and collaborator, detail-oriented and proactive, with a desire to grow in a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Experience or academic background in Bio-Science, Medical Device, or Pharma industries, with familiarity in regulated environments and product development processes.
- Experience or exposure to ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP for managing materials, planning, and change control.
- Understanding of project management principles, with PMP or CAPM certification (or active pursuit).
The annual salary range for this role is 75K-86K. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
