Overview

Office Location: Birmingham (B5 4UA) with hybrid working. We have 1 permanent role available but are also open to loans and secondments of up to 2 years.

Join Ofwat’s IT Operations Team as a Desktop and Intune Engineer. This role is responsible for managing and supporting end-user devices, ensuring seamless operation and security across the desktop estate, and leveraging Microsoft Intune for modern device management.

We are Ofwat, the Water Services Regulation Authority, a non-ministerial government department responsible for regulating the water sector in England and Wales. The Role

This position plays a key part in fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and positive impact across the organisation. The Desktop and Intune Engineer role is integral to promoting collaboration, maintaining trust within the team, operating both independently and as part of the wider team to deliver strategic objectives and exemplary IT service.

In this role you will be expected to:

• Provide 2nd line "escalated" support for desktop, laptop, and mobile devices (Windows and iOS).
• Manage and administer Microsoft Intune for device enrolment, compliance, and supported application deployment.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and reporting.
• Collaborate with security and service management teams to provide support for ad hoc rollouts and improve the user experience.
• Produce and keep updated documentation pertaining to the Intune configuration in relation to Autopilot, enrolment and system policies.
• Work directly with staff in person and over Teams in relation to device management.

About You

Below are the key essential experience, skills & knowledge required for this post:

• Proven experience in desktop support and endpoint management.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager.
• Proficiency in Windows 11 administration and troubleshooting.
• Good knowledge of Autopilot, MDM policies, and application deployment.
• Experience with Entra and Conditional Access policies.
• Good knowledge of scripting skills using PowerShell.
• Good knowledge of desktop security principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
