• Demonstrable experience with Linux and Unix, including Bash, AWK, SED and grep.
• Knowledge and experience of GNU utilities.
• Ability to make and act on decisions under pressure.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of networking, including host and preferably media layers.
• Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to communicate concisely, both verbally and written.

• Managing system changes.
• Forecasting production demand and capacity planning.
• Responding to and managing incidents and emergencies.
• Monitoring and tuning performance.
• Identifying and implementing automation to limit repeated steps.
