DevOps Engineer (Ansible/Python)

Location: Sheffield, UK (Hybrid – 2/3 days/week onsite)
Contract Type: 14-month contract
Start Date: ASAP
Day Rate: £500 (Outside IR35)

Job Summary:

We’re hiring a DevOps Engineer with 6-8 years of experience in Ansible and Python to support a major UK banking end client. You’ll design and deliver secure, automated data protection services, working with platforms such as NetBackup and Commvault. The ideal candidate will be an expert in DevOps tooling, Agile delivery, and cloud/on-premise data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and support automation for enterprise data protection systems (NetBackup, Commvault)
  • Design secure, resilient infrastructure and contribute to Agile sprint cycles
  • Develop and consume REST APIs for reporting and monitoring
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams using GitHub, Jira, Confluence
  • Mentor junior engineers and document automation processes
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and cybersecurity standards

    •  Essential Skills:

  • 6-8 years of hands-on experience with Ansible and Python
  • Strong DevOps experience with GitHub, CI/CD, and Bash
  • Excellent understanding of Agile/Scrum, user stories, and backlog management
  • API development and third-party integrations
  • Experience with configuration/orchestration using RedHat Ansible

    • Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with NetBackup, Commvault, or Cohesity
  • Ability to convert Puppet scripts to Ansible
  • Solid understanding of on-prem data infrastructure and data protection frameworks

    • Location & Working Model:

  • Based in Sheffield, UK
  • Hybrid: 2/3 days per week onsite at client’s office
