Overview


DevOps Engineer for HM Land Registry, Transformation & Technology team. You will support production systems and work with Agile development teams to deliver new services with high availability and operable configurations using DevOps processes and tooling. The role involves configuration, administration and support of infrastructure across cloud infrastructures, ensuring security, performance and reliability with an agile approach to incremental delivery.


Responsibilities



  • Provide technical engineering capability for the Web Operations team, supporting production systems and collaborating with Agile development teams to deliver new services in a highly available and supportable configuration using DevOps processes and tooling.

  • Engage with other DevOps Engineers and Senior DevOps Engineers, and coach/support Junior DevOps Engineers.

  • Take forward technical consolidation and/or improvement activities, providing guidance to technicians within the IT Operations Practice and across DDaT to support and deliver solutions in line with Technology and Business Strategies.

  • Work up to at least 32 hours per week; may require travel and overnight stays; occasional planned out-of-hours work and on-call rota participation.

  • Spend at least 60% of working time in the office as per role expectations.


Qualifications and experience



  • Qualification in Information Technology or a related area (Degree Level or equivalent) and/or experience in an IT field.

  • Experience supporting Linux operating systems, containers and containerised workloads (e.g. orchestration services such as OpenShift and Kubernetes).

  • Experience with at least one programming language (Ruby, Java, Python, JavaScript or Go).

  • Knowledge of continuous integration practices.

  • Experience with version control (Git and GitLab CI), configuration-as-code across cloud and on-premise environments using Terraform, and operating in agile environments building, deploying, supporting, and operating cloud applications (AWS).
