Overview

We are currently supporting a specialist technical consultancy in their search for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join their growing Central Government team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex, high-impact projects while shaping modern, secure cloud infrastructure.

Location & Working Model: Work from home or from one of six UK office hubs (including Bristol, Cheltenham, and London). Bi-weekly travel to London required to meet with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, and evolving secure and scalable AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS infrastructure.
  • Deploying, scaling, and managing Kubernetes clusters (Docker, Helm).
  • Developing automated tools and processes for deployment, monitoring, testing, and maintenance.
  • Creating and maintaining security, compliance, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Optimising systems for high availability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitoring and improving infrastructure/application performance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure/application issues.
  • Mentoring junior DevOps engineers.

We’re looking for an experienced engineer with a passion for cloud technologies and automation, and who thrives in a collaborative, problem-solving environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
  • Configuration Management & Automation expertise
  • Containers & orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm)
  • Observability tools such as CloudWatch, ELK, Grafana
  • Basic programming skills
  • CI/CD pipeline development and management experience
  • Eligibility: You must be a British citizen who has lived in the UK continuously for the last 5 years to qualify for high-level security clearance

Salary

Salary range: £50,000 – £70,000 GBP

Location: London, Bristol, Cheltenham, or remote with occasional travel
