Role: DevOps Engineer

Location: Slough-Berkshire, UK

Salary: £38000 - £40000

IT Global Consulting Limited is seeking an experienced and highly motivated DevOps Engineer responsible for development, maintenance, and ongoing support of the platform. The role involves acting as the internal focal point for an enterprise platform. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, ambitious, and eager to stay at the forefront of DevOps technologies.

Responsibilities

• Work within an agile environment utilizing CI/CD pipelines.
• Design logical architecture and understand its translation to physical infrastructure.
• Support teams in mapping stories to platforms, aiding in secure service deployment.
• Develop and support platform activities, including creating hardened containers.
• Identify and advise on best practices and delivery risks.
• Assist engineers with service topology, QA, and deployment pipelines.
• Promote the adoption of new tools and improve support processes.
• Assess applications and hardware using AWS.
• Manage AWS infrastructure, integrating cloud-native services.
• Enhance existing services for performance and reliability.
• Build and manage VPC environments for various stages.
• Automate deployments with infrastructure as code tools like Pulumi or Terraform.
• Support containerization tasks with Docker.
• Work with Kubernetes, including architecture, design, deployment, and leadership.
• Implement autoscaling on AWS using tools like Karpenter.
• Experience with Crossplane is a plus.
• Deploy CI/CD pipelines using cloud-native and third-party tools.
• Develop strong Shell and Python scripting skills.
• Use monitoring platforms such as Datadog and Prometheus.
• Apply security best practices in cloud environments.
• Assess application security and set standards for projects.
• Possess knowledge of Nix is desirable.
• Work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders and teams.
• Design solutions based on business needs and document them.
• Write clean, testable, and high-quality code.

Skills and Qualifications

• Experience with AWS, Azure, Java, Cloud, and Cyber Security.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Nginx, IPv4 Networking, software engineering in C/C++/Java/Python/Go/Rust/Node.
• Test automation, relational and non-relational data technologies.
