Job Title: Engineer - Diagnostic Development & Support

Location: Any UK Site

Alexander Dennis aims to lead the evolution of sustainable on-road mass transportation and mobility. We design, deliver, and support market-leading buses and coaches that help reduce emissions, improve air quality, and keep communities connected. Every role contributes to that mission, whether you're engineering, driving sales, improving production, or supporting our customers.

What You'll Do

As a Diagnostic Development and Support Engineer, you will be the first point of contact for supporting service engineers tackling complex vehicle faults. You will investigate issues, capture learnings, and turn them into smarter on-board and off-board diagnostic features and tools. From developing fault codes and guided routines to working hands-on with vehicles and test rigs, you will play a key role in improving how our products are supported in the field.

What We're Looking For

We’re seeking someone with experience configuring and customising diagnostic toolchains, creating and maintaining ODX/OTX/CDD files, and a solid understanding of vehicle communications (J1939, UDS, CAN, LIN, IP). You should bring proven problem-solving skills, a clear and concise communication style, and the ability to make complex topics simple. A genuine interest in vehicle technologies and a desire to improve diagnostics for users is essential.

Bonus if you have: Direct experience on vehicle electrical systems, familiarity with V-model or structured development processes, or experience capturing engineering requirements.

What We Offer

  • Impact: Be part of something that changes cities, improves air quality, and evolves public transport.
  • Development & Growth: Training programmes, mentorship, opportunities to take on new roles, and broaden skills.
  • Culture & Belonging: An inclusive environment where your voice matters and people are treated fairly.
  • Perks & Benefits: Competitive salary, pension, wellbeing support, cycle-to-work scheme, and enhanced maternity/paternity benefits.

Our Values

  • Safety: The health and wellbeing of our team and the safety of our products are a top priority.
  • Quality: Excellence in our products and services.
  • Integrity: Honest, transparent, respectful, and inclusive workplace.
  • Accountability: Responsibility for actions and building trust and reliability.
  • Teamwork: Collaboration with team members, suppliers, and customers for mutual benefits.
  • Sustainability: Long-term success through responsible sourcing, lean manufacturing, and sustainable operations.
