£500–£600 per day Inside IR35


Are you a hands-on Digital Implementation Engineer with deep expertise in GA4 and Google Tag Manager? I’m working with a leading travel brand undergoing a major digital transformation, and they’re looking for a contractor to architect and implement robust, scalable analytics and tracking solutions across their digital platforms.


This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex dataLayer engineering, cross-platform tracking, and technical enablement for one of the most recognisable names in the travel sector.


Role & Responsibilities


  • GA4 Deployment: Lead the technical configuration and deployment of Google Analytics 4 across web and mobile platforms, ensuring complete and accurate data capture throughout the booking journey.
  • GTM Engineering: Build and maintain efficient tag architectures within Google Tag Manager, enabling streamlined deployment of marketing and analytics technologies.
  • DataLayer Design: Define, document, and implement custom dataLayer structures to support robust event tracking and enable scalable measurement.
  • Technical Specification & QA: Write technical specs for developers, validate tracking requirements post-implementation, and use debugging tools to troubleshoot and optimise.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with front-end developers, UX teams, and analysts to integrate tracking logic into customer-facing features and ensure alignment with business KPIs.
  • Post-Implementation Support: Proactively monitor tracking reliability, troubleshoot discrepancies, and refine the tracking setup to meet evolving business needs.


Skills & Experience


  • Proven experience in technical digital analytics or implementation engineering, with strong expertise in GA4 and GTM
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, tag templates, and debugging tools like GA Debugger, Tag Assistant, or Chrome DevTools
  • Deep understanding of dataLayer architecture, schema design, and event-driven tracking
  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes, version control, and collaborative workflows with developers
  • Strong documentation skills and the ability to translate business tracking requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Experience in the travel, tourism, or hospitality sector is a strong advantage
