OverviewDrainage Engineer – ManchesterPenguin Recruitment is currently supporting a leading civil and environmental consultancy with an exciting opportunity for a skilled Drainage Engineer to join their dynamic water services team in Manchester. This permanent role offers a competitive salary, flexible working arrangements, and the chance to work on a diverse range of drainage and flood risk projects across both public and private sector clients.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver drainage projects from inception through to detailed design, producing compliant strategies, plans, and technical drawings.Contribute to SuDS design, surface water, and foul system solutions, supporting planning applications and regulatory approvals.Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, building strong client relationships and supporting staff development.Engage in innovative flood risk and drainage projects, supporting product development and emerging market initiatives.Mentor junior staff and share expertise across the team.RequirementsDegree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Environmental Science.Minimum of 3 years\' experience in drainage design, including SuDS, pumping station design, and flood risk assessment.Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with GIS (QGIS) is advantageous.Strong communication, project management skills, and a proactive, client-focused approach.Membership of a professional body and aspiration toward chartered status is desirable.Why Join?Competitive salary, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, company pension, flexible working, career development support, and a collaborative, supportive team environment.Penguin Recruitment is operating as a Recruitment Agency for this position.
