Job Description

About the Company

Our client is a globally recognised leader in the development of advanced communications technology, operating as part of a multinational group with revenues in the billions. Their solutions power next-generation connectivity across a range of sectors, including satellite, wireless, and secure communications.

With a strong pipeline of innovation-driven projects, they are expanding their engineering team and are seeking a DSP Engineer to support and lead the development of digital signal processing technologies.

Role Overview

As a DSP Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and optimization of real-time signal processing algorithms for cutting-edge communication systems. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, scalable DSP solutions used in mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop DSP algorithms for modulation, demodulation, filtering, error correction, synchronization, and other signal processing tasks
  • Implement algorithms in simulation environments (e.g., MATLAB, Python) and on embedded platforms (e.g., C/C++ on DSPs, FPGAs, or SoCs)
  • Analyze system-level performance, including link budgets and bit error rate (BER) performance
  • Collaborate with FPGA, software, and systems engineers to ensure successful hardware-software integration
  • Optimize DSP code for computational efficiency, memory usage, and real-time performance
  • Participate in design reviews, verification activities, and lab-based testing of communication systems

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong experience in digital signal processing for communication systems
  • Proficiency in implementing algorithms using C/C++ for embedded systems
  • Solid understanding of key DSP concepts, such as FFTs, FIR/IIR filters, adaptive filtering, modulation techniques, and channel coding
  • Ability to interpret and influence system-level architecture and design decisions

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with FPGA/ASIC development or hardware/software co-design
  • Background in wireless, satellite, or secure communications
  • Familiarity with tools such as GNU Radio, Xilinx Vivado, or Texas Instruments DSP SDKs

What’s on Offer

  • Work on high-impact projects within a global leader in communications technology
  • Access to world-class technology, labs, and cross-disciplinary engineering teams
  • A collaborative culture with strong technical mentorship and clear career progression paths
  • Competitive compensation, performance-based incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package

Benefits Include

  • Hybrid working model
  • 25 days annual leave
  • 8% employer pension contribution
  • Private medical insurance
  • Life assurance (4x salary)
  • Continuous training and professional development
  • Employee reward and recognition scheme
  • Employee assistance programme
  • BUPA wellbeing services
