About the Role:

We are looking for a DX Engineer, Education to join our Developer Experience team as a founding member of Vercel Academy. You'll partner with our Head of Education to teach millions of developers globally. This role uniquely combines platform engineering, curriculum development, and content creation using our custom git-like CMS where human educators and AI collaborate. You'll have significant ownership over both the technical architecture and educational content that will define how developers learn modern web development. You will report to Joel Hooks, Head of Education.

If you’re based within a pre-determined commuting distance of one of our offices (SF, NY, London, or Berlin), the role includes in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. What You Will Do:

Co-architect Vercel Academy's technical platform and content strategy, building scalable systems for course delivery, progress tracking, and certification

Create flagship courses for React, Next.js, and Vercel's platform while establishing quality standards and repeatable processes for content at scale

Contribute to our content engine—a CLI-first system with version control, AI-assisted workflows, and seamless authoring experience

Lead curriculum development from fundamentals through advanced topics, ensuring every lesson teaches through building real applications

Partner with CS, GTM, and product teams to integrate education into Vercel's customer journey and enable our certification program

Pioneer human-AI collaboration in technical education, implementing workflows where AI agents help maintain and improve content quality

About You:

8+ years building production web applications with deep expertise in React, Next.js, and the modern web ecosystem

Proven track record creating developer education at scale—courses, content platforms, or learning programs reaching thousands

Engineering skills to build and maintain educational infrastructure, from CLIs to APIs to content management systems

Exceptional technical writing and the ability to make complex concepts accessible through practical examples

Self-directed with extreme ownership mentality—you ship without waiting for permission

Passion for empowering developers and ideas about the future of technical education

Bonus If You:

Have built your own developer education business or learning platform

Experience with MDX, content authoring systems, or git-based workflows

Published courses on Next.js/React or maintain significant educational resources

Background in engineering leadership or managing technical teams

Active in the developer community through YouTube, newsletters, or conferences

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $144,000.00 - $216,000.00. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location, and the total package includes benefits and equity-based compensation.
