Working for a engineering design house based in Cheshire, providing expert support to a diverse range of clients across the chemical, petrochemical, energy, water, and waste sectors. Our services span the full project lifecycle — from initial concept and design through to commissioning — ensuring comprehensive and tailored engineering solutions to meet each client's specific needs. This role will be specifically working on a large nuclear project, SC clearance is required.
Description
The EC&I engineer will be responsible for:
• Specifications and Scopes of Work for installation contractors and equipment suppliers.
• Design work packages including: o Control Architecture Diagrams, Instrument Loop diagrams, Motor Schematics, Cable Block Diagrams, Cable Routing/Layouts, Instrument and Electrical Schedules, Lighting Specifications and layouts, MCC Design Specifications and MCC/Control room layouts.
• Direct input or oversight of onsite construction and commissioning support, depending on the project.
Reporting to the Projects Engineering Manager/Lead EC&I Engineer, you will liaise closely with engineering designers and draughtspersons within the projects group in the development of Stopford Functional Safety services, involving Safety Instrumentation System Design, Verification, Validation and Functional Safety Assessments.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Ensuring the EC&I Deliverables produced by the Projects Group are to the correct quality, standard and procedure.
• Creation of project documentation (specifications, control philosophy, cause and effect, alarm lists, inspection and test plans).
• Input to Design Reviews and Risk Assessments.
• Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens/AB).
• Experience with Profibus, ProfiNet and Modbus communication protocols.
• Cable specification and design in accordance with BS 7671/IEC 60364/BS EN 61439.
• Assist the EC&I Lead with deliverables, take on responsibility for self-development.
• Proactively engage with customers internally and externally, developing and maintaining strong, positive business relationships
