The Opportunity:

Edinburgh Futures Institute is currently seeking to appoint a Data Visualisation Engineer to support research in data visualisation across the University through technical and conceptual advice as well as developing data visualisations.

The main purpose of this role is to support research in data visualisation across the University through technical and conceptual advice as well as developing data visualisations. More specifically, the post-holder will work as a member of the EFI research technology support service within the Edinburgh Futures Institute (College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS)) and will support (in-person and online) the EFI VisLab.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

  • Excellent skills in data analysis and visualisation, as well as interaction design
  • Creativity, problem-solving and ability to use initiative
  • Ability to develop software and websites (front- and back-end)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
