Electrical and Control Engineer - Northern England

Location: Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, UK

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls and Automation (EICA) Engineer to join our Water Utilities Division in the Manchester and Edinburgh offices. You will work on a wide range of design projects across water treatment, water distribution, wastewater, industrial process water, desalination, irrigation, hydropower, and flood defence, supporting the full project lifecycle from feasibility through commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical power distribution design
  • Control system design
  • Specifying local renewable and back-up generation systems
  • Developing plant layouts
  • Cabling and installation design
  • Instrumentation selection
  • Lightning protection assessments
  • Writing system control strategies
  • Factory and site acceptance tests of equipment
  • Collaborate with clients and contractors to build strong relationships and secure further work

Candidate specification

  • Essential
    • Qualified to HND level or higher in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline
    • Two years or more of experience in electrical and/or control engineering design/consultancy
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
    • Understanding of the importance of prioritising health, safety, and environmental issues
  • Desirable
    • Master’s degree in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline (or working towards)
    • Chartered status with the IET or equivalent body
    • Experience in the water and/or wastewater industry
    • Good understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes
