Electrical and Control Engineer – Scotland. Location/s: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, UK. Permanent, full-time role within the Water Utilities Division of Mott MacDonald.

Responsibilities

• Undertake a wide range of EICA tasks, including: electrical power distribution design, control system design, specifying local renewable and back-up generation systems, developing plant layouts, cabling and installation design, instrumentation selection, lightning protection assessments, writing system control strategies, and factory/site acceptance testing of equipment.
• Work in close partnership with clients and contractors, building relationships to enhance the company’s reputation and secure further work.
• Cover all phases of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning to handover.
• Engage with projects in water treatment, water distribution, wastewater recycling, industrial process water, desalination, irrigation, hydropower, and flood defence.

Candidate specification

Essential

• Qualified to HND level or higher in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline
• Two years or more of experience in electrical and/or control engineering design/consultancy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Understanding of the importance of prioritising health, safety, and environmental issues

Desirable

• Master’s degree in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline (working towards)
• Chartered status with the Institution of Engineering and Technology or an equivalent body
• Experience of working in the water and/or wastewater industry
• Good understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes
