Electrical and Control Engineer - Scotland

Location: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness; UK

We are seeking Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (EICA) engineers to join our Water Utilities Division in our Manchester and Edinburgh offices. You will work on a range of design projects across water treatment, water distribution, wastewater recycling, industrial process water, desalination, irrigation, hydropower, and flood defence. You will be involved in all project phases from feasibility through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning to handover. Our clients include the majority of UK water utility companies and other governmental and private organisations in the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical power distribution design
  • Control system design
  • Specifying local renewable and back-up generation systems
  • Developing plant layouts
  • Cabling and installation design
  • Instrumentation selection
  • Lightning protection assessments
  • Writing system control strategies
  • Factory and site acceptance tests of equipment

You will work in close partnership with clients and contractors, building strong relationships that enhance the company’s reputation and help secure further work.

Candidate specification

Essential

  • Qualified to HND level or higher in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline
  • Two years or more of experience in electrical and/or control engineering design/consultancy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Understanding of the importance of prioritising health, safety, and environmental issues

Desirable

  • Master's degree in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline (Working towards)
  • Chartered status with the Institution of Engineering and Technology or an equivalent body
  • Experience of working in the water and/or wastewater industry
  • Good understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes
