Location: Bristol
Salary: £48,000 - £52,000 DOE
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a dynamic and forward-thinking engineering consultancy working across complex, high-integrity systems in sectors such as defence, aerospace, energy, and advanced technology.
This is an opportunity to be part of a highly skilled engineering team delivering detailed electrical designs from concept through to final delivery, supporting innovative projects across safety-critical industries.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and produce electrical system designs, including block diagrams, schematics, wiring schedules, and cable calculations
Define component specifications and carry out equipment selection for electrical hardware
Support design reviews, internal verification, and compliance to relevant industry standards (e.g. BS7671, IEC, DEF STAN, etc.)
Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to deliver fully integrated solutions
Generate documentation including Bills of Materials (BoMs), technical files, test specifications, and support documentation for CE/UKCA marking
Contribute to the preparation of project estimates, proposals, and risk assessments
Assist in the commissioning, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems as needed
What We’re Looking For
Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Strong background in electrical design for complex systems
Proficiency in CAD software for electrical schematics (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar)
Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive, BS EN 60204, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Desirable Skills
Experience working in safety-critical sectors such as defence, nuclear, aerospace, or energy
Understanding of systems engineering and lifecycle documentation
Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status (IET or similar)
