We are seeking a proactive and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team at Whitwell. This is a hands-on role is responsible for overseeing electrical maintenance, compliance, and continuous improvement across site operations.
The Electrical Engineer will work Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Lead and coordinate electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations to support uninterrupted production.
- Supervise a team of five electrical/instrument technicians and one apprentice, including planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Conduct interviews, training, appraisals, and manage disciplinary procedures in line with company policy.
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules and manage capex projects.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including the Electricity at Work Act.
- Monitor environmental systems and maintain awareness of site permits and standards, including the Green House Gas Permit and Environmental Management System.
- Support product development and allocate resources effectively.
- Maintain ISO accreditations (ISO9001, ISO14001, BS18001, ISO50001) and conduct internal audits.
- Drive site improvement initiatives, promote proactive maintenance practices and manage KPIs.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal departments.
- Coordinate RCA investigations and predictive maintenance activities.
- Maintain and oversee laboratory records for quality equipment in line with regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:
- HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 34 years of relevant industry experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Able to read technical documents (e.g. blueprints, safety procedures) and communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- Strong numerical skills, including basic algebra and geometry.
- Practical problem-solving ability and confident interpreting technical instructions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant industry software.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Capable of performing physical tasks including lifting (up to 12kg), climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
- Comfortable working in environments with noise, heat, moving machinery, and potential exposure to electrical hazards.
