Based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, you will work on exciting multi-disciplinary projects within the Building Services team, supported by local, regional and international experts and an extensive technical library and specifications.

Your Team

  • You will work closely with likeminded individuals on exciting and challenging multi-disciplinary projects.
  • The Building Services team in the Northern Region consists of more than 50 Mechanical, Electrical, and public health engineers across the Manchester, Leeds, Teeside, Glasgow & Edinburgh offices.
  • You will be based in our Edinburgh or Glasgow office, offering easy commuting options and amenities just around the corner.

Role Responsibilities

  • Have a proven track record in delivering projects for your discipline and in line with client expectations.
  • Work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team providing design and technical advice in a WSP project manager capacity on a wide range of projects.
  • Review design programmes and ensure sufficient resource is available to complete the works in line with technical and commercial performance and delivery.
  • Work with initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of the discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
  • Interpret client needs and project requirements to meet delivery objectives.
  • Promote WSP’s capabilities and expertise in the region.
  • Supervise the completion of detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function.
  • Consider project feasibility for the discipline and lead overall feasibility studies.
  • Direct production of detailed and performance specifications for the discipline, subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.
  • Develop and line-manage junior staff.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • BEng/BSc/MEng in applicable engineering discipline.
  • CIBSE / IET / Engineering Council Chartership or working towards it.
  • Revit MEP training applied to the discipline.
  • Leadership skills and a proven track record of delivering varied projects.
  • Ability to engage with clients, contractors and design team members in technical discussions and coordination.
  • Ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically to construction professionals and client teams.
  • Detailed understanding of the regulations applicable to the discipline with demonstrable calculations.
  • Working understanding of latest electrical design software packages for allocation/direction of work on projects.
  • Experience with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to support project execution.
  • Understanding of UK and European regulations relevant to the discipline.
  • Ability to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC).
