What experience do you have in producing and maintaining electrical engineering design justifications within a high-hazard industry?
Can you provide an example of when you assessed or authorised electrical design modifications to meet safety requirements?
How familiar are you with British and European design standards for HV/LV systems in an industrial environment?
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
· Author, develop, assess, and maintain electrical design substantiation documents.
· Lead on design changes and concessions.
· Produce Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules, operating procedures, and supporting data.
· Prepare and review safety case documentation, including Periodic Review of Safety reports.
· Provide technical advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
· Produce Independent Technical Assessment (ITA) and Independent Peer Review (IPR) scopes of work.
· Apply theoretical and practical engineering methods to design, develop, and maintain high-hazard infrastructure systems.
· Produce robust technical justifications for electrical design modifications.
· Review and approve technical reports, calculations, and safety submissions from other engineers and contractors.
You will have the following experience:
· Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer in HV and LV industrial plant and machinery (pumps, generators, lightning protection, control systems, etc.).
· Strong knowledge of British and European design standards.
· Experience across concept, detailed design, and construction phases of electrical engineering projects.
· Ability to assess the resilience of electrical equipment to hazard conditions.
· Skilled in producing safety-related technical justifications for high-hazard environments.
· Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
· Minimum HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
· Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience.
It’s great if you also have the following
· Familiarity with safety case development techniques (e.g., HAZID/HAZOP).
· Experience in the UK nuclear industry (energy or defence).
· Knowledge of UK and US nuclear industry regulations, codes, and standards.
· Degree in Electrical Engineering.
· Chartered Engineer status.
