Electrical Engineer (Shift) | Cambridge | £54k


Shift Engineer – Cambridge

We’re looking for an experienced Shift Engineer to join a high-performing facilities and engineering team in Cambridge. This is a critical role ensuring that all building systems and environments are maintained to the highest standards, supporting vital operations 24/7.


What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Responding swiftly to breakdowns, keeping essential plant and systems fully operational.
  • Working with UPS, Generators, HV, PDU’s, HVAC, CRAC units, and BMS systems.
  • Overseeing sub-contractors and ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times.
  • Maintaining accurate Health & Safety, compliance, and quality assurance records.
  • Playing a key role in ensuring environmental conditions are always tightly controlled.


What we’re looking for

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Refrigeration services.
  • Strong track record in maintaining mechanical & electrical equipment in controlled environments.
  • Good understanding of building management systems (BMS).
  • Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH or equivalent).
  • Calm, decisive, and able to work under pressure in a shift environment.
  • Team player, but also comfortable with lone working when required.
