Join to apply for the Electrical Shift Engineer role at JLL in London, England. The Shift Engineer provides engineering support to maintain the building infrastructure and has a detailed understanding of Building Services systems and contingency procedures in compliance with Health & Safety and building codes of practice. The role supports the Shift Supervisor on site as part of a team delivering engineering excellence across services. The hours are a continental 12-hour shift pattern.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all building systems in a competent, effective and efficient manner
  • Act as the Duty Authorised Person (HV) if required
  • Issue relevant site Permits as part of the Safe System of Work
  • Complete PPM and reactive tasks and update the system
  • Ensure daily tours are completed and repair or report defects via the Landlord helpdesk
  • Identify materials required and complete the internal Materials Request Form
  • Comply with statutory and company health, safety and environmental regulations and policies
  • Record statutory inspections (fire, access equipment, water hygiene) within their folders
  • Ensure Specialist Service Provider worksheets are signed off; escalate recommendations to the Technical Manager
  • Maintain housekeeping in plant areas, workshops, stores, and changing/rest areas

The Shift Engineer will operate and troubleshoot building systems, including but not limited to:

  • Building Management Systems and electrical monitoring
  • Blind control systems
  • Air handling, air conditioning and terminal units (VAV/CRAC)
  • Window vent systems
  • Cooling tower plant
  • Domestic water services
  • Fire prevention and detection systems
  • Sprinklers and wet risers
  • Fire alarm and voice alarm
  • VESDA
  • Fire suppression
  • Variable speed drives
  • Generators, load banks and controls
  • AC, DC single/three-phase motors
  • UPS systems, batteries, static switches and controls
  • Emergency lighting
  • High and Low voltage switch panels and breakers

Skills

  • Approved apprenticeship or relevant experience in Building Services
  • Excellent communication skills with staff and customers at all levels
  • Formal qualification in electrical engineering
  • Experience as an end user of a Building Management System
  • Intermediate computer literacy (Windows Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative and in a team
  • Strong numeracy and literacy with experience in report writing

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • 18th Edition IEE: Wiring & Installation
  • LV/HV Authorised Person
  • C&G 236 Parts 1 and 2 or equivalent
  • C&G 2391 – Desirable
  • C&G Mechanical Qualification
  • Familiar with current Health and Safety legislation related to safe working practices; strong administrative/organizational skills
