Dedicated and detail-oriented Electronics and Control Engineer to join a dynamic team where you will be responsible for the ongoing development and high-level technical support for the present and future range of Portable Ultrasonic NDT equipment, with specific focus on the Electronic Systems and the supporting production processors. The design, development, support and innovation of the electrical hardware and architecture of the digital and analogue systems for our Portable Ultrasonic NDT equipment within the Research & development group within the business.
Electronics and Control Engineer Role:
* To develop, test and approve the design, drawings, the required support documentation and support systems related to the electronics utilised in Portable Ultrasonic NDT equipment Range. You will be key in the development of the new range of Portable Ultrasonic Products through research, design and innovation. In addition, you will support the current range of products in service that are used to perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of railway track by the team of Pedestrian Operator Team.
* Proactively collaborate as part of the wider design department to scope befitting technical solutions for projects. This would include hardware specification in support of analogue, digital (FPGA) and computer-based Ultrasonic Testing systems. To be responsible for providing a High-Level Electronic Fault Finding / Problem Solving support service to the staff in the Production / Maintenance group to resolve non day to day technical issues with the Portable NDT Product Range.
* Supporting the installation and commissioning of equipment on the customer’s site.
* To be responsible for the EMC / EMR testing and approval of the Portable NDT Products.
* To be responsible for technical documentation related to the Electrical / Electronic Systems in the Portable NDT Products to comply with CE marking and any other UK or International standards for the existing and future range of products.
* To setup and manage the Electronics H/W change control system, working with other members of the group to ensure it compatible by the Mechanical and Software change control systems.
* Required to work with all the other members of the group to continuously develop and enhance the Portable NDT Products and setup the groups idea / innovation register.
* Assist both internal and external customers with any issues relating to the above systems.
* Prototyping with numerous suppliers and working with procurement to enable our future product strategy with key suppliers.
* 25% Travel required.
Electronics and Control Engineer Requirements:
* HND, Degree or equivalent, level qualification in the field of Electronics.
* 3-5 Years of hands-on Electronics Experience post qualification.
* 3 years’ experience of Microprocessor systems, PCB design and repair, EMC / EMR / CE approval, maintenance/calibration/repair of electronic systems.
* Working knowledge of Microprocessor Systems (ARM / FPGA / PIC / Arduino / ATE).
* C.
* Ability to correctly read, create and understand Electronic Circuit Diagrams.
* Previous Experience of Maintaining / Calibrating / Repairing Electronic Systems or Instrumentation. e.g. digital mixed mode oscilloscopes and programmable instrumentation.
* Demonstrable industry experience in an electronics design role, including schematic design, PCB layout and mixed-mode simulation thereof (e.g. Altium).
* Knowledge of NDT Inspection Technology for Rail Inspection desirable.
