Engineer | Highway Operations and Design Service | Lancashire
Lancashire County Council is the Highway and Traffic Authority responsible for maintaining the safe and effective use of the road network. The Highway Operations and Design Service maintains over 1800 bridges and around 70km of highway retaining walls. This permanent, full-time role is based at County Hall, Preston with flexible working to combine office and home working.
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in an exciting programme of highway infrastructure development and regeneration across Lancashire.
- Identify and develop design solutions on bridge and highway structures projects, including new builds, strengthening and maintenance, working to ambitious budget and timescale targets.
- Apply knowledge of civil engineering, design standards and specifications and contribute to project delivery.
- Attend meetings and visit sites as required; maintain effective communications with stakeholders and customers.
- Hold a valid driving licence and have a vehicle available for official journeys.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience of civil engineering, design standards and specifications; suitable engineering qualification.
- Good communications skills, a customer-focused approach to service delivery, and a willingness to learn and develop.
- Experience in assisting in the delivery of projects.
Employment Details
- Permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week) | Salary £36,363 - £40,778 per annum | Pro Rata
