The Maintenance Engineer will work within a small team of other Technicians, responsible for daily routine maintenance and utilities activities, ensuring the smooth operation of both Taste and Scent production plants. This will also include supporting the delivery of other engineering works and improvements on site from conception to completion as directed by Maintenance Management.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on mechanical, electrical, and associated equipment and systems.
  • Support the delivery of engineering works and improvements from conception to completion.
  • Ensure all work activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of Engineering Systems and identify critical spares.
  • Contribute proactively towards improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for maintenance activities.
  • Participate in the on-call standby rota to support 24/7 operations.
  • Work Monday-Friday (full days) and be part of a six-weekly call-out rota and routine weekend cover.
  • Provide an engineering service to production in carrying out routine planned maintenance, and reactive breakdown repair of the site mechanical and electrical installation, ranging from daily checks and inspections to major servicing, reconditioning, and overhaul of the production plant machinery to maintain site OEE KPI.
  • Provide production support as needed to ensure production schedule is achieved.
  • Provide engineering cover and call-out when required on shift to meet production requirements.
  • Assist in the planning and supervision of contractor's work, including permit control.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Mechanical engineering apprenticeship with a minimum of City & Guilds qualification.
  • Fault finding and problem-solving expertise.
  • Health and Safety competence.
  • Willingness to undertake and commit to additional training.
  • High level of physical fitness for manual handling activities.
  • Experience in the chemical industry.
  • Experience in food manufacturing.
  • Experience in pump/gearbox overhaul.
  • FLT driving experience.
  • Experience working at height and operating MEWP.
  • Compliance with UK and IFF EHS & Food safety regulations and policy, and any other statutory/site requirements laid down in the SHEQ master system.
