There is an exciting opportunity to join our Seabed Processes Team, internationally recognised for world-class expertise in analysing and modelling scour processes. You will assist the team in delivering our research and consultancy portfolio focused on seabed processes, collaborating with clients to understand their needs and supporting the execution of projects in both small and large experimental facilities. You will also conduct desk assessments of scour risk and develop scour protection designs.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Seabed Processes Team in delivering research and consultancy on seabed processes.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and support project execution in both small and large experimental facilities.
- Conduct desk assessments of scour risk and develop scour protection designs.
- Contribute to both research and commercial projects with initiative and teamwork.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, oceanography or other physical science, mathematics) or equivalent.
- A relevant postgraduate degree in a related field is desirable but not essential.
- Good technical knowledge in waves, flows, sediment transport, seabed/coastal morphology, scour, and scour protection design.
- Some experience of CFD modelling (e.g., OpenFOAM/SedFOAM) and physical (laboratory) hydraulic modelling is desirable but not essential.
- Ability and interest to contribute to both research and commercial projects.
- Able to take initiative, find solutions and drive progress, working alone and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Resilient, highly motivated, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Attention to detail.
Working Arrangement and Location
Due to the requirement for experimental work, the role will be based at our offices and facilities in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, so you must be able to commute or be willing to relocate. For desk-based work we currently employ a hybrid working environment with at least 40% of work at the office.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary from £36,500 - £55,137 per annum depending on experience.
