Birchwell Associates are working with a major technology organisation to recruit an Entry-Level Data Centre Engineer for their Farnborough facility. This is a great opportunity for someone starting out in their career, or for individuals with a technical background who want to build a future within the data centre industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support data centre systems, responding quickly to alarms and incidents.
  • Handle tickets, service desk requests, and client queries in a professional manner.
  • Assist with hardware setup including server racks, cabling, and associated equipment.
  • Deliver “remote hands” support for client systems within agreed service levels.
  • Carry out cabling work, patching, and basic physical infrastructure tasks.
  • Help manage logistics such as deliveries, stock control, and access to site.
  • Support and oversee third-party contractors working on-site when required.

Candidate Profile

  • Recent qualification or background in IT, networking, or engineering.
  • Awareness of data centre operations (hands-on experience desirable but not required).
  • Understanding of cabling systems, hardware installation, and physical infrastructure.
  • Basic knowledge of servers, networks, switching, and routing concepts.
  • Awareness of IT cabling and electrical standards in technical environments.
  • Enthusiastic, keen to learn, and comfortable in a client-facing role.
