Role Overview

We are seeking a part-time Environmental Engineer to support the Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and other environmental design and engineering activities for an onshore energy facility expansion. The role is office-based, requiring 3 days per week attendance, and offers the opportunity to contribute to projects aligned with energy security and net-zero commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary project team to deliver all conventional aspects of environmental scope.
  • Environmental Philosophies
  • Environmental Impact Identification (ENVID) Reports
  • Emissions Inventories
  • Terms of Reference (ToRs) for workshops and Scopes of Work (SoW) for studies
  • Support studies focused on greenhouse gas reduction and alignment with net-zero targets.
  • Provide guidance on environmental compliance, including Best Available Techniques (BAT), ensuring regulatory adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with third-party contractors undertaking environmental studies, including ESIA and site baseline surveys.
  • Represent environmental aspects in ENVID and BAT reviews.
  • Manage environmental components of projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and collaboration with project teams to achieve environmental objectives.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Environmental knowledge gained through undergraduate or postgraduate courses, final year design projects, and relevant work placements.
  • Experience working on energy or industrial design projects; experience in wastewater treatment and energy transition projects (e.g., CCSU) is desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience in GIS or air dispersion modelling software is desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ related experience, with typical candidates having 6–10 years’ experience.

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BEng or BSc) in Environmental Engineering or a related field such as Chemical Engineering.
  • Membership in a relevant engineering, science, or environmental institute is desirable.
