Main Purpose of the Role

An individual contributor role responsible for the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment and systems within a regulated environment. The Facilities Engineer also supports building services, ensuring compliance and operational standards. Participation in a 24/7 on-call rota is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient operation of building services, plant, and critical systems, carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Lead or support investigations, system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring proper documentation (e.g., change controls, validation).
  • Perform frontline maintenance on equipment such as HVAC, refrigeration, water purification, and production systems.
  • Oversee small building and equipment projects, liaising with contractors for day-to-day repairs.
  • Monitor performance of equipment and processes, driving improvements to reliability and efficiency.
  • Take accountability for workload, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Build strong working relationships across teams and contribute to site-wide improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Modern Apprenticeship Level 4 / HNC / HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
  • Relevant facilities engineering experience within a regulated industry/environment

Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience in facilities maintenance and/or maintenance of automated equipment
  • Familiarity with CMMS (preferably Maximo)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in process engineering or PLC controls is advantageous
