Summary

The Facilities Shift Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and safety systems. The role ensures uninterrupted building operations during assigned shifts and provides immediate response to facilities-related emergencies.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain building systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and fire safety.
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and UPS systems supporting broadcast facilities.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as per schedule and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify issues and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Ensure temperature and humidity control for sensitive broadcast and IT equipment.
  • Monitor and respond to Building Management System (BMS) and broadcast infrastructure alarms.
  • Respond to equipment faults and system alarms; perform troubleshooting and minor repairs.
  • Coordinate with broadcast engineering teams during power shutdowns, HVAC failures, and critical system maintenance.
  • Maintain logs of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and incidents.
  • Support fire alarm and suppression system tests in data centre and transmission areas.
  • Support energy management initiatives and optimize equipment operation.
  • Ensure shift handovers are well-documented and communicated.
  • Work closely with contractors and vendors during repair and maintenance works.
  • Adhere to workplace safety regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and support emergency readiness.


Requirements

  • Technical diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar facilities maintenance or technician role.
  • Basic understanding of broadcast infrastructure requirements (power, cooling, redundancy).
  • Working knowledge of building systems and BMS (Building Management Systems).
  • Ability to read technical drawings, equipment manuals, and wiring diagrams.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a live broadcast environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays


Preferred

  • HVAC certification
  • Electrical license
  • Fire & Safety and First Aid certification.
