Fiber Network Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Fiber Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Fiber Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, installing, and maintaining our fiber optic network infrastructure. Your expertise in fiber optic technology will be instrumental in ensuring reliable and high-performance network connectivity for our customers.
Specific Responsibilities
- Network Design:
- Develop and implement comprehensive fiber optic network designs, considering factors such as network topology, capacity planning, and scalability.
- Create detailed network diagrams and documentation to support installation and maintenance activities.
- Installation and Deployment:
- Oversee and participate in the installation of fiber optic cables, splicing, and termination procedures.
- Configure and test fiber optic equipment, including optical transceivers, switches, and routers.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations during network installations.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Monitor network performance and identify potential issues proactively.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot fiber optic network faults, including fiber breaks, attenuation, and equipment failures.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning connectors and inspecting cables.
- Project Management:
- Coordinate and manage fiber optic network projects, from planning to implementation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, procedures, and configuration files.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in fiber optic technologies (e.g., Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), Certified Fiber Optic Installer (CFI)).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in fiber optic network design, installation, and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic principles, including propagation, attenuation, and dispersion.
- Proficiency in fiber optic testing equipment (OTDR, power meter, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with network management tools and protocols (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow).
- Knowledge of network security best practices.
- Experience in data center or telecom environments.
