We are seeking an experienced and proactive Field Service Engineer to join a well-established and growing energy solutions company. This is a hands-on role involving the maintenance and repair of generators and associated equipment for both customer-owned units and the hire fleet. The position requires a strong technical background, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in the field.
Working Hours & Overtime Schedule: Monday to Friday:
12am – 4am: Double Time pay
8am – 5pm: Standard Time pay
5pm – Midnight: Time and a Half pay
Saturday:
12am – 4am: Double Time pay
4am – Midnight: Time and a Half pay
Sundays & Bank Holidays:
All hours: Double Time
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out routine servicing and planned maintenance of diesel generators for both customer and rental equipment. Diagnose and repair faults efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime for clients. Conduct site surveys to assess maintenance or service requirements. Participate in the company’s on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support when required. Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment, including company vehicles. Ensure compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, 45001, 14001, and 50001) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.Skills and Experience Required:
A relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (e.g. City & Guilds, BTEC) or completion of an approved apprenticeship. Proven experience servicing and repairing generator sets, ideally including FG Wilson, Cummins, or similar brands. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills with a methodical approach. Prior field service experience is advantageous. Full UK driving licence required. ECS/CSCS or CCNSG card preferred (training can be provided if necessary). Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver high-quality customer service. Capable of working independently and as part of a wider team.Additional Information: All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
