Expect a mix of day and night shifts, the rota will cover some weekends with days off in the week, and 2–3 nights per week away, with all expenses covered.\n\n Key Responsibilities \nPerform scheduled maintenance and repairs on rail grinding equipment \nDiagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults \nUse the computerised maintenance system to manage and close out defects \nProvide remote or on-site technical support to grinder operators \nMaintain tooling, consumables, spares, PPE, and vehicle standards \nSign off equipment as fit for service after inspection or repair \nParticipate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives \nLiaise with internal teams, rail partners, and contractors Qualifications & Experience Essential:\n \nRecognised Mechanical/Electrical/Maintenance qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) \nFull UK Driving Licence \nUnderstanding of Health & Safety practices \nAbility to pass a medical and D&A screening \nConfident with fault-finding, diagnostics, and the use of IT systems Desirable:\n \nRail or heavy plant maintenance experience \nEx-Military Engineers are always a good fit, REME, RAF Engineers, Marine Engineers, or agricultural engineers.
