Job Title: Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer - Retail Sites

Location: Durham - Regional Travel Required

Base Salary: £36,083.00

Realistic OTE £42,000.00 per annum with overtime

Full Time & Permanent position | 40 hours a week - Monday to Friday

Responsibilities

  • Multiple system type installation to commissioning and handover of Fire including Addressable / Non-addressable systems, Air Sampling, Beam Detection, Wireless etc in accordance with the current standards and Codes of Practice.
  • Work within project time constraints, identifying and communicating without delay any potential risks to the project delivery dates.
  • Ability to commission and handover systems in line with the specification and drawings, including giving client demonstrations.
  • Maintain FIA qualifications (BS5839 Fundamentals/Advanced and Commissioning).
  • A full understanding of BS5839 (All parts) - SSSTS to supervise 3rd parties on sites as required.
  • Ensure all relevant H&S requirements are complied with and maintain the health, safety and welfare of yourself and the team in accordance with Company policy.
  • Complete relevant e-documentation (via tablet) or paperwork in line with FIA & BAFE requirements.
  • Actively support company policy and best practice around fire and security, with emphasis on the protection of sensitive customer information.
  • Knowledge of integration of detection systems into other disciplines is advantageous.
  • Provide technical support for all departments within the City.
  • Assist in the teaching and development of trainee Engineers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Proven background and experience of Fire Alarms, minimum of 2-3 years.
  • FIA qualifications (Advanced and Commissioning).
  • A full understanding of BS5839 is essential.
  • Knowledge of integration of detection systems into other disciplines is advantageous.
  • Ability to program varying manufacturers’ cause and effects from a laptop is essential.
  • Good communication skills for a customer facing environment.
  • Ability to work alone and effectively organise your time.
  • Understanding of the Standards relating to the Industry and installed systems.
  • Full understanding of Health and Safety is essential.
  • Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel across the country.
  • ECS/CSCS Card. IPAFF and Asbestos awareness essential.
  • SSSTS to enable supervision of third-party contractors on site.
  • Willingness to travel, flexible hours, and overnight stays for commissioning large systems; travel on short notice.
  • Willingness to be on-call during soak tests and warranty period.
  • Self-motivated and a team player with professionalism and proactive attitude.
