Mechanical Design Engineer – Water-Based Fire Suppression

A leading fire protection specialist is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-impact projects across critical infrastructure sectors, delivering water-based fire suppression solutions that protect lives and assets.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for:

Designing water-based fire suppression systems, including sprinkler and high/low pressure mist systems

Producing technical drawings and calculations using AutoCAD and Revit

Preparing BIM models and completion documentation (certifications, drawings)

Providing technical advice to clients and internal teams

Working with systems such as Sem-Safe, VID Firekill, and conventional sprinklersWhat We’re Looking For

Proven experience designing water-based fire protection systems (e.g. sprinkler, mist, hydrant)

Familiarity with BS EN 12845, BS8489, FM5560, and relevant British/European standards

Knowledge of LPCB and NFPA codes of practice

AutoCAD and Revit proficiency

CSCS/ECS card holder ()

Solid engineering background with practical understanding of installation methods

IT competent (Microsoft Word, Excel)

Positive, proactive communicator with a problem-solving mindset

Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe when required
