Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer

My client, a specialist UK-based Engineering Consultancy that focuses on Drainage, Civil, and Flood Risk Engineering, is seeking a Drainage Design Engineer to join their established team of Flood Risk and Drainage specialists in Newcastle. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across the property, transport, and energy sectors, including major waterfront developments, trunk road schemes, rail infrastructure, and renewable energy projects.
As a Drainage Design Engineer, you will:
* Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and Surface Water and Foul Water Drainage Strategies. * Design detailed residential and plot drainage systems and sewerage networks using tools such as AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, and InfoDrainage. * Contribute to utility design for building plots. * Work on flood protection, SuDS, watercourse structures, and drainage infrastructure adoption. * Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality solutions for industrial, commercial, and housing development projects. * Provide technical input for projects involving river modelling, hydrology, and climate change resilience.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
* A strong academic background, including a BSc and/or MSc in Civil or Environmental Engineering. * At least experience working for a UK-based Consultancy or local authority. * Experience in completing Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and Plot Drainage Design. * Proficiency in design software such as MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, InfoDrainage, and Civils 3D. * Familiarity with DMRB, Scottish Water, or other national body design standards. * Progress toward Chartered or Incorporated status with ICE or CIWEM is highly desirable.
