Join us.Introduction to the teamWe are seeking a Full Stack Software Development Engineer III to join our Recommendations UI team, an essential part of the Search and Recommendations organisation at Expedia Group. Our team is responsible for building experiences across all Expedia Group brands - including Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo, and our white-label templates - using Kotlin and GraphQL for backend services and TypeScript for frontend development.In this role, you’ll contribute directly to improving the customer discovery experience, with your changes impacting millions of users. You\'ll work mostly on the Web platform with opportunities to contribute to iOS, and Android platforms, gaining exposure to a wide array of technologies and challenges. You will also have the opportunity to grow and expand your skills in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment.In this role, you will:Full Stack Development: Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams to design, implement, and enhance large-scale applications. Focus on improving the architecture and technical foundation of our systems to better serve millions of users.Quality & Performance Champion: Lead efforts in establishing and enforcing engineering best practices across testing, CI/CD, and observability. Take proactive steps to address system bottlenecks, technical debt, and performance issues.Observability & Reliability: Design and implement tracing, monitoring, and alerting systems to ensure application uptime. Use data-driven insights to identify performance bottlenecks and improve system reliability.Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with teams across different time zones to ensure smooth integration with our dependencies and alignment on product goals.Testing & Code Quality: Design and execute comprehensive test plans, including functional, performance, and smoke testing, to ensure high-quality code and reliable systems.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.5+ years of software development experience (3+ for Master\'s) building scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant solutions with a specialization in front-end software development.Proficient in modern CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and frameworks such as ReactJS.Experience in API development and proficiency with object-oriented languages such as Java, Kotlin or Scala to build scalable and reliable services.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with TypeScript, Kotlin, GraphQL, and CI/CD pipelines.Expertise in designing and building scalable web applications.A strong focus on quality, performance, and best practices in engineering.Comfortable using Git or similar version control systems.Experience with observability tools, performance monitoring, and data-driven decision-making.Comfortable in an Agile environment, using modern tools and practices to deliver software efficiently.Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage work across multiple time zones.No relocation assistance offeredPlease note that this role is only available in the London location in alignment with our flexible work model which requires employees to be in-office at least three days a week.
