Gas Network Operations Engineer TraineeSalary from GBP40,109 plus a 26% shift allowanceUp to 10% bonus37.5 Hours Per Week - working shifts covering our 24/7 operationBased at our offices Doxford Park, SunderlandJoin our dynamic System Control Team at NGN s Energy Management Centre (EMC), a 24/7 hub responsible for demand balancing and the safe, efficient transportation of gases from the various entry points onto the NGN networks, to the consumer. As a Gas Network Operations Engineer Trainee, you ll play a vital role in maintaining system balance, managing remote assets, and ensuring network resilience. Being a 24/7 operation, please be advised that you will be working a shift pattern.As a Gas Network Operations Engineer Trainee you will develop detailed knowledge of all NGN gas systems, our characteristics, behaviours, and how to develop the regular forecasts and balancing strategies necessary to maintain supply, and to publish this information to National Gas.Key Accountabilities & ResponsibilitiesDevelop strategies that ensure system balance and gain sign off from the shift lead prior to publicationManage the remote plant and equipment associated with the daily balancing of the network, including offtakes, storage sites, valves and regulators to ensure that network capacity requirements are metHandle alarms generated by the network, analysing such in conjunction with the shift lead to raise faults and ensure an appropriate response is secured, based on the defined alarm response and assessment of prevailing conditionsManage the daily maintenance activity on the network both for planned and unplanned maintenance as well as non-routine activities to ensure that network capacity and resilience requirements are metSupport the department during Network Gas Supply Emergencies or equivalent exercises to meet NGN statutory obligationsProvide cover arrangements for the 24/7 function and additionally provide cover for the other functions working weekdays within the EMCWhat we are looking forDegree-level education or equivalent within a technical disciplineAbility to demonstrate technical knowledge and experience of successful project planning and co-ordination on a range of work typesExcellent problem solving and analytical skillsEffective communicator written, verbal, and numericalPrevious positive work / engagement with external stakeholdersIf you are passionate about ensuring the safety and efficiency of gas networks we would love to hear from you!Please Note: National Security Vetting is a requirement for this role.What we offer youSalary from GBP40,109 per annum plus a 26% shift allowance.
