Salary: Competitive (DOE) + OTE: £54,100
We’re looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on diesel generators – both customer-owned and rental equipment. This role is hands-on, customer-facing, and ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge and a solid background in field service work.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carrying out planned maintenance and routine servicing on generators
- Diagnosing faults and completing repairs quickly and effectively
- Conducting site surveys to assess service needs
- Taking part in the on-call rota for out-of-hours support
- Keeping workspaces and vehicles clean, safe, and compliant with Health & Safety standards
- Following ISO procedures (9001, 45001, 14001, 50001) and contributing to continuous improvement
What we’re looking for:
- A qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (City & Guilds, BTEC, apprenticeship, etc.)
- Proven experience servicing and repairing generator sets (FG Wilson, Cummins, or similar)
- Strong fault-finding skills with clear communication abilities
- Prior field service experience (advantageous)
- Full UK driving licence
- Customer-focused with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- ECS/CSCS or CCNSG card preferred (training can be provided)
Overtime Rates:
- Mon–Fri: 12am–4am (Double), 8am–5pm (Standard), 5pm–Midnight (Time & Half)
- Saturdays: 12am–4am (Double), 4am–Midnight (Time & Half)
- Sundays & Bank Holidays: All hours (Double)
