OverviewJoin to apply for the Geo-Environmental Engineer role at RSK Geosciences.We have an exciting opportunity for you to join RSK Geosciences in Newcastle for a Geo-Environmental Engineer, this is a full-time, permanent position. Working alongside an experienced team based UK-wide, you will get involved with a wide variety of geotechnical and land contamination projects covering sectors including energy infrastructure, renewable energy, development/regeneration projects and local authorities.We have been involved in several high profile and award-winning projects, which have been recognised at the Environment Analyst Brownfield Awards. In addition, several of our staff have been shortlisted for prestigious awards including the Ground Engineering Rising Star Awards and Environment Analyst Technical Lead and Best Early Career Professional. The RSK Geosciences training programme also won the 2024 Ground Engineering Award for Excellence in Learning and Development.What you can expect in this positionAs a geo-environmental engineer you’ll be responsible for undertaking project investigations, with a focus on site-based work. This will include both geo-environmental and geotechnical site investigations, data interpretation and reporting. The role would suit someone with a proactive ‘can do’ approach, close attention to detail, enthusiasm to get the job done well and ability to get on with a wide range of people. Our current team works out of offices in Newcastle. Hybrid working will also be considered.What you’ll be doing:Undertaking Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive site investigations for environmental and/or geotechnical purposes in line with national standards and codes of practiceManaging fieldwork activities including supervising drilling and excavation works, and undertaking gas and groundwater monitoring, low-flow groundwater sampling and surface water samplingSupporting the project manager in planning new projects including liaising with subcontractors and suppliers and preparing health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) documentationScheduling soil, rock and water samples for chemical and geotechnical laboratory testingWriting factual and interpretative reportsSupporting tender managers in preparing fee proposalsWhat we're looking forBSc degree level qualified in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related subject essential2-3 years previous relevant work experienceRock core logging capabilities is advantageous but not essentialWilling to spend a significant amount of their working day out on site and away from homeExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writingAbility to multi-task, plan and prioritise workloadAble to work independently and as part of a teamSkilled with Microsoft Office applications in particular Word and ExcelProactive approach to professional development with current (or aspiring) membership of a relevant professional bodyFull UK driving licence essentialSalary & benefitsCommensurate with experienceContributory Pension SchemeFree life assurance coverEmployee discount scheme to save money on everyday purchasesA flexible benefits programme including the option to buy additional holidays and private health careSupport with continued professional development and your pathway to chartership, and payment of professional membership feesThe RSK Group are an equal opportunity employerRSK will not accept unsolicited CVs from agencies other than RSK PSL or Secondary agencies.About UsWe are a market-leading site investigation, contaminated land and geotechnical consultancy with geophysics and survey teams and waste management consultants, operating from 20 UK locations.
