Join to apply for the Geo-environmental Engineer role at RSK Geosciences.

The vacancy is a full-time, permanent position based in Castleford. You will work with an experienced team UK-wide on a wide variety of geotechnical and land contamination projects across sectors including energy infrastructure, renewable energy, development/regeneration projects and local authorities.

Hybrid working will be considered. The current team operates from Castleford.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive site investigations for environmental and/or geotechnical purposes in line with national standards and codes of practice
  • Managing fieldwork activities including supervising drilling and excavation works, and undertaking gas and groundwater monitoring, low-flow groundwater sampling and surface water sampling
  • Supporting the project manager in planning new projects including liaising with subcontractors and suppliers and preparing health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) documentation
  • Scheduling soil, rock and water samples for chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing
  • Writing factual and interpretative reports
  • Supporting tender managers in preparing fee proposals

What we're looking for

  • BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related subject
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Rock core logging capabilities are advantageous but not essential
  • Willing to spend a significant amount of time on site and away from home
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise workload
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
  • Proactive approach to professional development with current (or aspiring) membership of a relevant professional body
  • Full UK driving licence
