Title - Geotechnical Design Engineer\n\nLocation - North Yorkshire\n\nKey duties will include:\n\n- A good understanding of geological principles as they relate to engineering practice, including knowledge of standard engineering geological logging and mapping procedures\n\n- Ability to analyse site investigation data to produce valid interpretative models for use in engineering design\n\n- Ability to design and schedule site investigations appropriate to development or design requirements\n\n- A good understanding of geomechanical principles and their application, including some or all of: \nSoil mechanics and foundation design\nRock mechanics and rock mass behaviour\nSlope stability and slope remediation\nGroundwater behaviour\n\n- Project management\n\nKnowledge, skills and experience required:\n\n- Must have experience working in a design environment.\n\n- Experience both on site and in the design office is .Experience in the rail and/or tunnelling sectors would be advantageous.\n\n- Must have a degree in civil engineering\n\n- Preferably an MSc in either Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering\n\n- CGeol or CEng would be desirable but not essential\n\n- Good reporting and communication skills in both personal and written form\n\n- Ability to manage own time; other engineers and technicians; SI subcontractors\n\n- Be familiar with either UK standards or equivalent Eurocodes\n\n- Sound understanding of CDM Regulations, specifically the designer’s requirements\n\n- Sound understanding of requirements regarding the design risk assessment process\n\n- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
