The Energy sector is fast-moving, shaped by changing resources, client needs, and regulations. In this role, you will support the design of low/zero carbon systems that are adaptable and financially viable, while collaborating with a team committed to achieving net zero and advancing the circular economy.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting project teams in the delivery of engineering and design work across various project stages, including both design and construction phases.
• Attending meetings with clients, suppliers, and design team members to observe and contribute to discussions, helping with the preparation and coordination of technical documentation.
• Provide technical and commercial support for the development of sustainable infrastructure solutions to complement RED’s building services design
• Assistance with undertaking surveys, tests and reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations; undertaking site surveys and support for due diligence reports
• Work with the Central Engineering and R&D teams to assist with incorporating new technologies and tools into the Energy Transition market
• Continuously update knowledge of the products provided by the Red Central Engineering team and how these can be used to win projects and provide new services
• Assist with site energy, water and waste audits as a first step to develop new energy transition projects including attending site visits
• Maintain knowledge of the latest technologies and regulations relating to demand side reduction, renewable energy generation, energy storage and electricity grid connections and initiatives
• Agree and implement a personal development programme with line manager including identification of internal and external training requirements
• Solve problems involving different technical and/or management options when demanded by different situations, using wherever possible existing company tools
• Contributing to innovation efforts by helping research modern technologies and supporting the development of ideas in collaboration with the R&D team

What You’ll Need

• Minimum requirement of BSc/BEng (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status
• Basic knowledge of CAD and engineering software
• Understanding of Health & Safety legislation
• Strong IT skills (MS Office, spreadsheets, calculations)
• Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
• Flexible to work outside core office hours from time to time, and to travel across regions as required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be detail conscious and methodical in approach
• Experience or awareness of power generation, MV or HV distribution systems, microgrids and energy storage is desirable
• Previous experience in consulting or construction (preferred)
• Awareness of international business operations (a plus)
