In this role as a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer (High voltage), you will work on real-world projects from day one, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of electrical systems and solutions. Whether you're passionate about power systems, control engineering, or sustainable technologies, we’ll help you grow your skills and shape your future.
Please note this role is a direct entry into the department on a 2-year FTC basis and is not part of a graduate rotation scheme. The location of the posting will be hybrid (3 days in office) in central Birmingham. We are unable to provide visa support for this position (including student visas).
How You’ll make an impact
- Design systems for HV substations at High Voltage levels.
- Participate in or lead design review meetings to detect errors, process inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to prepare the division of work.
- Create designs using CAD and other software tools.
- Validate design drawings and documents provided by suppliers to meet customer specifications and internal standards.
- Work closely with internal and external customers to ensure delivery meets their requirements and standards.
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues and share best practices across projects and disciplines.
- Opportunity to travel abroad and participate in product testing at factories.
- Plan and organize daily work with problem-solving at the core.

Your Background
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Experience with technical coordination with suppliers and project stakeholders across locations.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and offices.
- Problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for new challenges.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Based in the UK and legally authorized to work there.
